We are pleased to announce that the next Temenos Post Qualification Supervision course will begin January 2020 and will be delivered with the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum.
The course is delivered through a blended learning environment consisting of experiential group process, practice and presentation modules delivered in Sheffield and facilitated by Temenos tutors. In addition, knowledge and skills based learning will also be delivered in an online experiential workshop facilitated by Temenos visiting tutors.
Requirement for entry to the Post Qualification Certificate in Supervision
Requirement for entry to the Post Qualification Diploma in Supervision
Any ‘equivalence’ requests will be considered on an individual basis by the Director and or Tutors of the course.
In keeping with the philosophy and practise of the person-centred approach, the emergence of the course content will be student-centred and process-led. The Learning Group may comprise both Certificate and Diploma students and has a student-centred frame that supports the learning
The course will consist of five modules of two days to be held at Temenos and facilitated by Temenos tutors in Sheffield plus four online workshops of three hours delivered by visiting Temenos tutors.
In this structure there is no timetabled curriculum and the content of the course will be built retrospectively as the presentations, practise and process emerge the content and learning objectives detailed in the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum. In this way each learning group will be unique.
The Temenos tutor team are experienced and expert in facilitating the integration of the learning of each student. They will support each student in the practice of supervision skills and feedback from colleagues and tutors, along with reflection on theoretical, ethical and legal implications for contemporary supervision.
The five modules of two days will consist of process, practise and presentation.
Process: group process, dynamics and the interweaving of theory into the here and now dynamics.
Practise: of supervision in both the large group and smaller groups, including the practise of facilitated learning and reflections.
Presentations: each student will present to the group an interest or subject of their choice, including and contrasting theoretical concepts that relate to supervision.
The course will also have 4 online workshops which will be hosted by an international group of visiting Temenos tutors who have long experience in the field of supervision. These colleagues will bring their knowledge and practical experience of theoretical, ethical and legal issues to extend participants knowledge and practice.
The 4 online workshops will be scheduled between each of the 5 modules located in Sheffield. The online workshops are intended to be a rich source of learning to bring to the Sheffield modules where there will be time for each of the course participants to practice and integrate the learnings gained from the visiting online tutors.
Visiting Temenos tutors facilitating the online workshops will facilitate in a style congruent to the philosophy and theory of their approach to supervision and so the experience of the online workshops will be idiosyncratic to each visiting tutor.
This course is also intended to meet all of the learning objectives set out in the BACP Curriculum for training supervisors. At Temenos we share the responsibility for meeting the criteria with the student group by making available a plethora or resources to make sure that it is possible to engage with all the learning objectives and content listed in the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum.
At the beginning of the course all students will receive a resource that lists all of the learning objectives and content listed in the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum which will be accompanied by a group discussion considering how the group intends to engage with the learning outcomes and content.
Many of the learning outcomes and content will be considered in the group process which will be a mix of the many resources and experiences contributed by students who are already practitioners with experience. These resources will be further added to by the Temenos tutors and Temenos visiting tutors who are themselves experienced supervisors.
Students will also need to make time for self-directed learning from an extensive reading list and online video / audio resources. All students will be eligible for free access to the onlinevents CPD library which has an extensive collection of video and audio learning resources from an international group of expert and experienced supervisors whose specialisms include supervising Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Coaches, Teachers, Nurses and of course the supervision of supervisors. This is an appropriate way to engage with the learning objectives and content listed in the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum that are not covered in the Sheffield modules or the online workshops.
Students will be offered a resource that will identify suggested reading and online learning that meets specific learning objectives and content listed in the BACP Counselling Supervision Training Curriculum.
